NEW DATE! - MARCH 21
Join us in Marc A. Scorca Hall at Opera America! A light reception will follow.
This exciting program highlights our newest member and fabulous tubist Samantha Lake:
Early in the program, you'll hear the premier of Carle Wirshba's Sam'scape, specifically written with multiphonics for high voice for Samantha.
Later on, Hidas' Trio showcases the low brass and gets the trumpet players off stage, much to their chagrin.
We're also excited to add Steven Sacco's Quintet to our repertoire. It's a fun piece with grooves, drama, and lots of brassy colors. A fresh take on Girl with the Flaxen Hair rounds out our new pieces.
The program opens with Stacy Garrop's Helios, so we'll fly too close to the sun to open the concert and revisit Rich Shemaria's piece Pandora's Magic Castle to finish with a strong groove.
Program:
Helios, Stacy Garrop
Girl with the Flaxen Hair, arr. Huug Steketee
Sam'scape, Carle J. Wirshba
Quintet, Steven Sacco
Trio, Frigyes Hidas
Round Midnight, arr. Leigh Pilzer
Ellington Medley, arr. Leigh Pilzer
Pandora's Magic Castle, Rich Shemaria
